Advantages of using a REALTOR® versus selling your home on your own, known as a FSBO, a For Sale By Owner:
- Home Sellers who sell on their own may not have the knowledge to price their homes competitively. They may overprice and have the home on the market for a long time, or they may underprice the property and not get what the house is actually worth.
- FSBO's may not be objective at the way they look at the physical characteristics of their home and it may turn Buyers off. A REALTOR® can see the property objectively and recommend what a Seller can do to prepare their home to sell.
- A person selling their own home may lack experience in advertising. A REALTOR® has many different options, that include online services, magazines, etc.
- Home Sellers may have to rearrange their schedules to sell their own properties. A REALTOR® is available on weekends, vacations, and evenings. That way a prospective Buyer won't slip through the cracks while the Sellers are unavailable.
- A REALTOR® has the means and experience to "weed out" curiosity seekers, thieves, and people who are not serious about buying. REALTORS® can have pre-qualifications and pre-approvals done in order to determine which prospects are legitimate and have the financial means to purchase a property.
